This mommy just got humbled in a great way!

So the T-Man took this picture, and I like it!

Who knew a 6 year old with autism could have such an artistic eye? Two quotes that come to mind and humble me are: "See the person, not the label" and "Different, not less." ~Temple Grandin. A great reminder and an AWESOME lesson! I can tell that he will never cease to amaze me and I am so thankful to God for blessing us with him!!! I pray I never fail you again my sweet boy, but since I am human I probably will, so I also pray it happens less and less and that you will forgive me when I do...

Gee, thanks J-Man!

This is a conversation that happened between the J-Man and myself this morning...
Me: Can I have a kiss?
Jackson: No
Me: Why?
J: Because I said so.
Me: (I ask him playfully) Do you think mommy is gross?
J: (without missing a beat), Yeah.
(before I feel crushed, I figure maybe he thinks ALL girls are gross, he IS only 4 years old after all. So I probe further...)
Me: Do you think kissing girls is gross?
J: No.
Me: But you think giving mommy a kiss is gross?
J: Yeah. Can I have some strawberry milk?
Me: You're lucky you're cute...(I walk away to get him a drink while mumbling under my breath).
Lesson: My middle son is grumpy in the morning when he doesn't have his morning cup of strawberry milk...and he thinks I'm gross!  LOL! LOL!

I'm awake, I'm awake!

Sooooooo, I woke up to find that "The Little" decided to sleep in my bed. As I was lying there still trying to wake up and staring off into space a bit, I felt him move into the position in this picture, which I guess was really comfortable for him because I heard him take one of those relaxing deep breathes...he looks so sweet right?
Yeah, they're cute when they sleep. As soon as he took his nice relaxing breath, I could tell he was really, really relaxed because the little booger tooted in my face! LOL! Notice the angle of his little bum and how close it is to my pillow? Yeah, I was directly facing his second "relaxing breath" if you get what I mean! LOL! LOL! I tell you what, nothing will snap you out of your, "I need to wake up but I'm too tired to do anything else besides stare off into space" zone and jump out of bed REAL QUICK like a toddler toot! Ha Ha Ha!!!

I did it, YAY!

I don't know why I was blessed with a good metabolism, but because of it, I was always the small one in the family. Fast forward to my late 30's and after 4 children my once great metabolism now was...well, not so great. Actually, I think it retired. I all of a sudden put on so much weight, people were noticing...and commenting. "We're glad you're getting big like he rest of us!" or "You're getting chunky." etc, etc. All I'm thinking is, "Really, I hadn't noticed!" When my clothes no longer fit and my back started hurting more and more, (I have scoliosis), believe me, I NOTICED! I had a choice. Was I going to get depressed and let myself go, or was I going to stop complaining and do something about it? I chose to use their comments, (and my back pain), as motivation to kick butt and take names! After watching my food intake, breaking up with Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, (which was my crack), and a daily dose of, "Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred", (love her, she rocks), I am feeling so much better! I looked thru my old photos and made a before/after picture that not only shocked me, but really put into perspective how much I accomplished, (with God's help of course)!!
Now, to keep it off...Oh gosh! Well, I will do my bestest and believe I can do it!!!

Cool idea, bad timing!

Okay so I saw this on Facebook and LOVE this idea for the T-Man, my 6 year old autistic son who loves building things. One problem, nobody sells pool noodles anymore since it is November as I type this, and even if they did, my bad back and neck wouldn't allow me to be in the same position long enough to properly cut these out! I have scoliosis, and I assume that is why my back is almost always hurting...who am I kidding, I'm a mom! If I had the noodles, I would do what I had to just to see him smile! But I digress..
.
Super cool idea, amiright?!!! Who ever came up with this idea is genius, I love it!  Can't wait for summer so these go on sale again! I'm blogging this to save it because I have a bazillion things on Pinterest that I never look up anymore. Great idea equals happy mommy!

It's been a while...

I haven't updated in a while! Here's why: The T-Man was officially diagnosed with autism on April 20, 2015 and to say I have been busy since then is an understatement. I have been taking him to lots of appointments and have been reading up and going to classes to learn more about it. He has started speech, occupational therapy. and am grateful to say that he was able to get into The Arizona Autism Charter School. I went to the Arizona Autism Conference at AZA United, the same place where he has taken a summer social skills class and currently takes speech. We had our DDD, (Department of Developmental Disabilities), and ALTCS, (Arizona Long Term Care System), appointments and am grateful to report that he was approved for both. Lastly, I was able to hire my sister to be his habilitation specialist. I'm still waiting for her to finish training so she can start, (and boy am I eager for her to do so)! When she starts, I will have more time on my hands to sit in front of the television and eat bon bons...YEAH RIGHT! It's funny how some people still think that, that is what a SAHM, (stay-at-home-mom), does!
In other news, The J-Man is now in pre-school so that is a blessing! He is coming out of his shell more and more each day. He was super-shy but not so much anymore. I went to pick him up a couple weeks ago and his teacher informed me he had done some interesting artwork. I looked, and it turns out his "artwork" was marker drawn all over some classroom shelves, AAAAHHHHH! I cleaned it up of course, she was nice about it. Even at home there is never a dull moment:

Thats Tang all over the coffee table.
This is the J-Man who apparently went swimming in it.
Since he has so much energy, I enrolled him in soccer. He loves being outside, and had fun at practice so I thought this was going to be a winner! Today was his first game. I have no pictures or video because my little ball of energy decided he was NOT going to put his team shirt on or play the game at all. He cried the entire time and wouldn't place one foot on the field, LOL! Maybe as he goes to more practices, he'll become less shy and play. Oh well!
I can hear that I am now being paged upstairs in the form of The Little crying his eyes out, so I guess my "free" time is up. "Free Time" Ha Ha! LOL!
